Virtuix to Release 360-Degree VR Treadmill “Omni One”

VR tech startup Virtuix has pulled back the curtain on a 360-degree treadmill called “Omni One.” As its name suggests, the device, with its octagonal base and frictionless surface, lets you run in any direction.

The company announced the entertainment unit in a crowdfunding campaign. It features a vertical arm that holds you in place while your feet move against the treadmill, a more seamless experience than its previous-gen counterpart, Omni, which had a ring around the device instead. Built for the home, the Omni One can also be folded up and put away. Virtuix mentioned that the product will come with 30 games, while more third-party titles, similar to Fortnite and Call of Duty, will be available later on. Virtuix has yet to decide on a standalone headset to pair with the system but will do so in the coming months.

Virtuix’s Omni One is expected to launch in Q2 of 2021, set to retail for $ 1,995 USD. Scroll above to watch a demo of its Omni One VR treadmill.

In case you missed it, Minecraft has announced a PlayStation VR upgrade.
